Bethany is an associate attorney at Akiona Law who earned her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with an emphasis in health law and bioethics. Before joining the firm, she clerked at the judicial branch in Boston's Probate and Family Court. Her desire to help families be resilient and healthy in the face of adversity made her an ideal fit for the team at Akiona Law.
During her time in Pittsburgh, Bethany represented medically disabled children and their families in a medical-legal partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Health Law Clinic and UPMC Children's Hospital, as well as teaching high school law and justice classes as a Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Fellow. While living abroad with her husband after law school, she wrote grant proposals raising more than $1 million for social enterprises developing products to improve health outcomes for women and children in rural East Africa and India.
Fun Facts: Bethany believes that an important part of advocating for clients is how you tell their story, and she got her start in storytelling as a theater and dance major. Before and throughout law school, Bethany was a professional theater electrician, lighting designer, and contemporary dance choreographer. You can still find her working on any number of creative projects in her free time, including painting, sewing, or rehabilitating a piece of furniture from the side of the road.
