Kevin Harrington Interview 2/09/2021
Hi, I’m Kevin Harrington, original Shark from ABC’s “Shark Tank” and pioneer of the infomercial industry.
I’m here today with Lani Akiona (Ah-key-oh-na) founder of Akiona (Ah-key-oh-na) Law. Akiona (Ah-key-oh-na) Law is based out of Everett, Washington and focuses exclusively on divorce and family law. Welcome, Lani!
Q 1#: WHAT ARE THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS A PERSON SHOULD ASK WHEN HIRING A DIVORCE LAWYER?
Lani Answer:
What’s your approach to divorce and family law cases?
Is it, “One-size-fits-all?”
OR, do you come up with a case plan/assessment depending on the unique facts and circumstances based on what’s going in my situation with my divorce?
Q #2: WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Lani Answer:
Because…There is no “one-size-fits” solution
Each divorce and family law case is unique as it depends on the individual facts and circumstances of your case
Good divorce lawyers will suggest a case plan or strategy to meet the specific needs of your divorce or family law case
We do this at the divorce and family law firm of Akiona Law by doing something most divorce lawyers don’t do…heck; some lawyers may never do this at all during a divorce or family law case
Q #3: TELL US LANI…WHAT SETS AKIONA (Ah-key-oh-na) LAW APART FROM ALL THE OTHER WASHINGTON STATE DIVORCE LAW FIRMS?
Lani Answer:
The divorce and family law lawyers at Akiona Law go beyond getting “just the facts”…we want to know what are your fears, frustrations, wants and goals about your divorce
A fear could be your partner is abusive, and your goal is to keep yourself and the children safe
Or your fear is your or your spouse have a lot of assets, and your goal is to not be taken advantage of
By understanding the big picture, the facts, and you’re fears, frustrations, wants and goals, we’re able to suggest a case plan or case assessment for your divorce case
Q #4: WHAT IS A CASE PLAN OR CASE ASSESSMENT?
Lani Answer:
A case plan is a suggested series of steps or action to take tailored to the unique facts and circumstances of your situation about how to move your case toward your goal
A case assessment is an honest and realistic evaluation, based on our 30+ combined years of practicing law, of how likely you are to achieve your wants or goals given the facts and circumstances of your case.
Some people don’t want to hear that type of honesty. They only want to hear how good or how strong their case is.
But, if your case is weak, you have bad facts or the facts are against you…the reality is you are probably not going to get the result you want
We, at Akiona Law, believe in giving you the respect and honesty you deserve
We aren’t going to tell you what you want to hear, we’re going to tell you what you need to hear!
Q #5: THAT’S A POWERFUL STATEMENT LANI! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?
Lani Answer:
Well, Kevin; we’re not like those other lawyers, who tell people what they want they want to hear in order to get hired
We would love to work with you in your divorce or family law case, but not if it means we can’t be honest with you about it
Q #6: WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Lani Answer:
Well Kevin, one of our core values is putting our client’s needs first!
This goes hand in hand with Akiona Law’s motto, “caring for you in your time of crisis.”

KEVIN SAYS:
